Why such a low rating?

I saw an advanced screening at the Toronto Fan Expo and I think it should atleast be at 8/10 right now so when the rating drops it won't end up in the 5/10 or 6/10 range. It was really good, but I am a LEGO fan, I am not sure if an average person would like it.

reply

I dont think you understand the rating system.

reply

Anyone can rate how they wish. Some people choose to be dicks and give low ratings to everything, sometimes the only people who choose rate are the ones who didn't like it. You never know as it averages all the "votes". Honestly on imdb 8/10 is a really good rating.

reply

Actually it disregards some of the best and the worst votes with algorithm that takes into account the user voting history. So you can't just make new accounts or always vote with absolutes(1 or 10).

reply

Right, it averages them out. But there are enough dicks in this world who will always vote things down, and always give bad reviews. It still averages out and is not the best indicator of true value in film.

reply

This doesn't explain anything. The question is why this movie has lower rating than other movies. If it is because of "dicks" as you say, then why "dicks" vote down this one and not other documentaries?

reply

Because they like to mark things down that people like. Trolls/dicks always do that kind of thing. Are you new to the internet?

It's an OK documentary, but far from amazing. Some parts were interesting, but I am not really interested about stuff weird fans create or what they do at conventions and things like that. There was a lot just about fans. Also, you can tell it was filmed some time ago., the Curiosity robot announced in the film came out 2 years ago or so. I liked the bits where they showed the factories and head offices and how they applied it to architecture and I loved the guy that made all those sculptures made out of bricks, same with the history of the company. But way too many spoiled kids showing the big toys their rich parents bought them. I think they forgot to mention how expensive some sets are.

reply

I rather agree. It was good. I'm amazed at the things that people can do, but it takes lots of money. Also, as interesting as many parts are, I could not pay attention the whole way through. I still gave it a good rating, but it was far from the most interesting documentary.

reply

From a documentary, you expect at least some objective information. You will not find it here. This is like a commercial about how great Lego is. They show a lot of elaborate sets but they don't even mention how much these sets cost and where these people find the money (and the time!) for these huge projects.

reply

Exactly! The only normal person in this documentary is the girl that works in the British office. The rest of the employees talk of the CEO like he is some kind of emperor.

Hence the low rating, should have more objective information.
