Ghost Forest?

A horse is mentioned as having been stolen from the Ghost Forest - as though it was a place were wild horses were legally protected. Is there such a place? Assumed the movie took place in Canada. Nothing on wikipedia, anyone know if there is such a place?

There are wild horses in Alberta

There are so many inconsistencies, it's hard to tell. They mentioned Qu'appelle which is a real place in Saskatchewan where it was filmed. But the police look nothing like RCMP (nor do they act competent. I can see a lot of police facepalming over this movie).
I think that looking into the ghost forest being real is a lost cause (like this film is). There is a place called Ghost Forest in Alberta, but it's on the BC side. It's about 50km west northwest of Calgary, it appears to be mostly on reserve land. Look up 'Ghost lake, Alberta' in Google.

Agreed, lots of inconsistencies. They filmed this in Saskatchewan and use a number of town names from the province, but the filmmakers pulled their punches about actually saying where it takes place.

It seems to take place in a generic western prairie location, with generic police (when they should have been RCMP), where hand guns are easy to obtain. Were they marketing this as a modern day western set in the western US? A disappointing mish mash of a film that seemed to be afraid of declaring its Saskatchewan roots. Liked the granddad though.

The Big Muddy is a badland region full of valleys and clay hillsides in southern Saskatchewan. About 100 km long, pretty country. There is no town of Big Muddy as implied in the film. Willow Bunch, Assiniboia, and Wood Mountain, mentioned in the movie, all exist near the Big Muddy. Marquis Downs is the race track in Saskatoon, about 450 km north of the Big Muddy.
