Basic Premise is Totally Nonsense

The basic premise that "Joe" is stranded without the money to fix his truck is totally nonsense. The guy is supposed to be a major league star. Couldn't he have gotten money wire transferred to the town bank? And if the writers might take the position that doing so would out him or that he couldn't do this without ID, then he could have simply had his business manager phone the service station and provide them with a credit card.

Other plot points that I found disturbing were that he never reported his wallet stolen to the police even after revealing his true identity to the officer nor did he have his credit cards cancelled and that is was never explained who owned the truck he was driving.

I am not one of those people who believes that when one watches movies, you have to suspend belief in the obvious in order to allow the story to be told. This is just lazy storywriting.

Hi,
The way I see it he was trying to flee from the media, to get away at least for awhile from everybody, his business manager, his brother etc etc. If he did all those you suggested it'd be "Game Over" very early in the movie.

BTW I really enjoyed the movie. It's a pity you didn't.

I am with you rusan when you say it would have been "game over" if he had reported a stolen wallet, although I would have thought that he would have trusted his business manager enough (before obviously he realised she killed his wife) to organise some money.

But unlike the OP I tend to set these qualms aside if I enjoy the basic storyline which I did immensely for this movie. Love Sarah Lancaster, she is not only extremely attractive but has very expressive features which in these sort of romantic drama's help make up for (at times) slack dialogue.

Yeah, I, too, enjoyed the movie. Heck, it was only a TV movie! But the cinematography was great, the actors, especially the really hot Nicole Badaan as the second, younger cop, were pretty good as well. What's not to like? It filled the afternoon movie slot really well after a late lunch.
