I know this is a kid's story but how in the world does Mrs Silver not realize that her tortoise keeps having different shell patterns?! I know she's old but she's not senile. I haven't read the book -- does it give an explanation of how Mr Hoppy maintains this whole charade?
shareI don't want to give to much away so I'll leave it at: she admits to not being the brightest bulb in a chandelier. That's from the movie as I too haven't read the book.
P.S. I've just found the ebook on my PC and she never finds out that Mr. Hoppy swapped Alfie over many times. The expose in the movie is not in the book. Little Alfi ends up being returned to a pet shop and purchased by a small girl. Mrs. Silver married Mr. Hoppy and the two of them lived happily ever after. Ahhhhhhh.
