Terrific performances from Judi Dench & Dustin Hoffman ! But the inclusion of James Corden as the Narrator completely ruined it for me.I found him to be extremely irritating every time he appeared ! A voice over narrative would have been sufficient from someone like Morgan Freeman !

share100% agree. Lovely performances from the 3 leads (and the tortoises), but Corden was dreadful...and I'm a big fan of his. Should have just been voice - and not from someone who was trying to steal the show!
shareGood performances but I hated how the original story was changed. Had it lasted 30mins and stuck to the original it would've been 10 times better.
shareI liked his narration and all the bits that went with it (the bus, etc.), although agree a voiceover narration would have been fine and not taken the viewer out of the story. Someone mentioned Morgan freeman – NO! The man's fabulous, yes, but very American and Esio Trot is very much a British story, so an American narrator would be very much out of place. James Corden was just fine, IMHO. :)

shareI have no idea who this chap is, but I tend to agree he had a predominant presence that was disturbing as not being captivating or intriguing at all.
For such a part I would imagine a more poignant actor or character would have been better by contrast to the levity of the story.
He was OK anyway just following the script, I imagine. Not fun for me.
I think he played the part well enough. But a voiceover would have been more suitable.
