Coogan's voice in the film

Was Steve Coogan doing a voice? I know he was doing an "American" accent but his voice sounded different, too. I love him, but I prefer him to stick to British characters.

The audio wasn't good in this film most of the time. Don't know what they did, but it sounded like the microphones were inside shoeboxes.
