One of the greatest documentary about video gamers

just watched it ,really intense specially Danil Ishutin story your eyes might get wet it show what video games means for some people .

and I'm one of Dota 2 fan i do play a lot these days but becasue of work i don't get that much time ,

video games means a lot for most of the people ,like me its like skipping from the reality and have your unimaginably life and real friends that you have a lot to share and talk about.

and i don't get the people why do kick their children from home or annoy them becasue they play VG and don't get drunk or waste in street's ?

in the end i only have one advice for people who are in school go play but don't let it effect your study as like me you can play after you done from school.

*pls recommend movie like this if you know and share your opinion if you like.

Its a terrible documentary about video games.

Go rent king of kong and you will understand, heck, the special features on the dvd of that movie are better than this film.

This film tells you NOTHING about why dota 2 matters. To anyone who doesn't play dota 2 it just looks like anger and button mashing, its a total failure to explain why anyone should care, it explains and illustrates no real strategy, you might as well zoom up close of two chess pieces being bashed against each other in a documentary about chess, that's how mindless it is.

I have seen king of kong and it was good too. but this was good too !

Agreed, it's just so... vapid. The idea of playing videogames AND making money from it appeals to most kids, sure, but I really wish the producers had been a bit more realistic about the rest of a "pro" gamers' life. You know, when you hit 30 (As in age, not level).

What are you gonna do when you spent your whole youth playing games instead of getting a degree? And paid streamers arent a guarantee either - who's to say sites like Twitch.tv even still exist in 5 years?

Bitcoin mining, fedora wearing, professional gamer athletes should take a dose of reality.

Hit Nail Head.

If people honestly thought this was a quality documentary - they haven't seen many.

I LOVE videogames. I LOVE Valve and their games. But this was fluffy trash...

I too thought the target audience was more people who were already familiar with Dota as a game. But I thought it worked fairly well as a documentary if you thought a bit about it. On first glance, it was a bit of the rah-rah support of the professionals. But I thought it had a subtle undercurrent of tragedy. The interview where one gamer admitted that after age 25, you couldn't compete in that world any more; the illustration of the dramatic, life-changing sacrifices these players made, most ultimately without any reward; the highlighting of people who pinned their national pride on a video game. There are a few people that make a living and come out of a professional gaming life happy, but I thought the documentary made clear that for the vast majority, it simply isn't worth it.
