Who fathered Basila 2nd child?

I think Kilian is the father because in the movie Jocobo was treated for syphilis and there was no mention of Basila being treated for it after the rape.

If anyone has read the book and can confirm this question please post it here.

The first time I watched this a couple of weeks ago, I had the same assumption. But I just watched it again a bit closer, and had some moments of doubt. The only thing that made me wonder if Fernando Laha was Jacobo's was when Kilian told Bisila that it (he) would be their secret and that future children wouldn't know the difference. It seemed like by the time he returned, most people knew they had been together, so the assumption would be that FL is Kilian's.

Also, Julia's youngest was at least a year (or nearly a year judging from his size) when the rape happened, and he looked at least two when Kilian saw Fernando for the first time. Then again, given how young Iniko and Fernando were in 2003, I guess that's not the best way to judge.

I would like confirmation as well, but I'm thinking he's biologically Jacobo's, and grew up believing he was Kilian's. Then again, if that were true, no one seems upset or emotional about it. So maybe not.

The book is sold out everywhere I've checked and I don't want the Kindle version.

Kilian was in Spain from December 1963 (Catalina's death) to April 1964 (the scene where Basilia's crying as she marks another day off the calendar). As well, I'm sure she was taking precautions to not get pregnant by Kilian (which would automatically reveal she was unfaithful to Mosi), something she wouldn't be able to do in a gang rape.

I don't think Laha grew up thinking Kilian was his father. He wouldn't have asked his mother if he was his father. It seemed to me that it was his first time hearing Kilian's name or seeing the picture.

Their future children wouldn't know the difference because they'd be mixed race like Laha and Kilian tacitly pledged to raise him (Laha) as his own.

The father would be one of the 3 white men who raped her. She told Killian that she would not be able to have any more children which suggests that maybe she had some sort of complication as the concequence of rape, and was able to bring the pregnancy to term, but is now unable to have more children.

Impossible to say since 3 white men raped Basia. The rape caused her to not be able to bear any more children. The rape was portrayed as brutal and tore her insides badly.

I read the book, in the book it is said very clearly that Fernando Laha is Jacobo's child, a product of the rape, but that Killian agrees to raise him as his own. Due to the timing of the pregnancy, it is obviously not Killian's because he was in Spain. It's obviously not Mosi's because the baby is a mulatto not a negro. Not trying to offend anyone with those words, I read the book in Spanish and those were the words used.

3 white men raped her so it is impossible to say which man's it was.
DNA would have been great back then.

In the book it says clearly that it is Jacobo's child.
The movie leaves it ambiguous, the book does not.

Laha asked his mother if 'he' meaning Killian, is his father, and she says 'no'. This is right before she sits them down and tells them the story. So, not Killian, but one of the three men who raped her.
