Rank the trilogy's three main demons from scariest to least scariest

Red Faced Demon
Old Lady/Man Demon (forgot the name)
The demon that can't breathe

For me I'd probably say Red Face was the least scary. When you first see the face it pretty much looks like the scariest thing you have ever seen. However, the more you see it, the quicker you realize Red Face is more bada$$ than anything else. His chase scene makes him seem ever cooler. Plus he's got a lair. I think of him like I do Freddy Kruger, yeah it's scary, but it seems to have too much of that human personality for me.

In the middle I would put non breathing man. Honestly, for a main villain, he was disappointing. He seemed pretty generic to me. I also don't think he himself is really that scary. Most of what he did to the girl was scarier than HE actually is. He looked like a zombie more than a demon if anything.

I'd say the old man/woman was definitely the scariest. The smile, the big dress, the shawl, the teeth, she/he is just seriously creepy. I think that demon takes the cake of scariest thing in the Further that we have seen.

The Bride in Black is my favourite! Followed by Lipstick Demon and The man who can't breath.

The Bride in black is not only the least scary Insidious villain, but just one of the most boring villains in recent horror. Creepy in the first one, and then way too human in the second one for me to be afraid of him/her/it. I just really disliked the character as a villain, they did nothing for me in the second one.

I guess my ranking would be the opposite if yours OP. It's more the atmosphere of the insidious films that creep me out though, they're just very moody and eerie.

Lipstick-Face Demon looks like something from a Cirque du Soleil act. His face popping up at the end looked pretty funny. I quite liked the creepy face in the darkness in the previous shot, but Lipstick-Face's silly make-up ruins the Insidious films for me a little bit. He'd look more appropriate in a performance art piece or a mardi gras somewhere. Actually, he reminds me a little bit of the Black Frost character from The Mighty Boosh.

Parker Crane looked cool in the first film (the Bride in Black thing seems to be partly inspired by the cult 80s TV movie, The Woman in Black; not the remakes obviously), but the creepy factor wears off by the second film from over-exposure. Same thing with the villain in this film. Sometimes less is more.

So I'd probably go with Parker Crane. Lipstick-Face looks too comedic, and The Man Who Can't Breathe looks too generic.

Crand was alright.

He became a bitch in this one though.

The Bride in Black tops the list for me. That thing still scares the hell out of me to this day in a Captain Howdy kind of way. It's that smile, and that laugh!

The Lipstick Demon - This one's a mixed bag for me. There are moments where I can't help but laugh at him or be bothered by the age-old cry of a resemblance to a certain Star Wars character, but there are moments where he genuinely freaked me out, such as Lorraine's dream sequence in the original, Dalton's rescue sequence and chase scene, etc. His appearance at the end of Chapter 3 caught me off guard admittedly, I figured it would be The Bride in Black that came for Elise.

The Man That Couldn't Breathe - Was not a huge fan I'm sad to say. He creeped me out for the first few scenes he appeared in, particularly the scene where he darkens Quinn's bedroom, but I have to admit, I think the creep factor wore off due to the entities that were subsequently introduced after him, such as The Bride's appearance out of nowhere, and that singing woman in the Lambert's living room.

The old lady in the first one was the scariest, and then not scary at all in the second when you find out it's a drag queen.

Red Face was more laughable than scary. How can a demon that looks like Darth Maul, listens to Tiny Tim, and makes puppets, be taken seriously as a legitimate evil being? It's like the Scary Movie guys doing a parody version of a demon.

The demon with asthma wasn't scary either but if you're to give it kudos, at least it seemed to have more power over its victim than the rest.

Old Lady in Insidious
Asthma Demon in 3
Old Man in 2
Red Faced Demon

I'm laughing because you said Freddy Krueger. I do believe since part 2 these films are becoming more and more like Nightmare on Elm Street (especially part 3). Elise has some kind of super powers in the further, just like the kids do in part 3 to kick Freddy's butt!

I'm very surprised at those responses. The red demon in the first Insidious is just about the scariest movie character I know. That thing freaks me out so badly, and when it popped out at the end of Chapter 3 that really really got me. The only other film character that has ever scared me as much is Barlow in the 1979 Salem's Lot.

The second film I watched only about 1 year ago, and I don't remember it as being particularly scary at all. In fact, I didn't even remember the main demon until it was brought up in the thread, so clearly the bride in black doesn't bother me much.

The man that can't breathe was pretty scary for most of the film when you only get to see him in brief scenes. But once he started getting his butt kicked I didn't mind him anymore and cheered for the awesome lady.

The Phantom Menace must be a R rated film for you then.

If Ari Gold saw Chappie he would say:
"Chappie makes Elysium look like Citizen Ć’vcking Kane"
