The dad's acting was awful...

Anyone else think so?

A couple that stood out especially (for me) was:

The scene where he asked Quinn to wake up her brother for school and says "I need your help here, I'm drowning! he's ru...running late, ya ya you coulda done this anytime... blah blah"

The scene where Quinn wakes up from her car accident and the first thing he asks is "can you remember anything?" in awkward manner.

Meh... didn't mind him that much. Nothing great, but didn't think he was bad either.

Agreed. He dragged the whole thing down to a sort of high school cliche Twilight level.
I thought this movie was very good. But he didnt seem emotionally attached at all. And his whole role was bad as well. After the daughter has just bandaged her neck. The first thing he says is "you sure it wasnt just a bad dream?". The most stupid cliche line ever.

Couldn't agree more! I actually came here to see if it was just me. That I perhaps misinterpreted some of the things he said. In the beginning of the movie, during the 'wake up' scene you're referring to, I seriously cringed at the way he chose his words. I wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic, intentionally overly dramatic dad or if he was being serious. Turns out, it was the later. It felt completely weird to me. That being said, I'm in the exact same family situation as the main character, and my dad has said some really dumb, overly dramatic things like that as well. And still he felt weird to me..

I thought the brothers, dads and the ghost investigators acting was bad, Quinns acting was ok

The Dad was okay. I wasn't bothered by him, he was hurt too by the death of his wife. He should be acting off, his life has changed too.

He was honestly so bad I'm surprised he wasn't fired. The little brother's acting was laughable in that scene where he jumps in front of the dad screaming "This isn't helping Quinn!" or whatever. Damn, the men in that family can't act for s***!

Yes,but in my opinion all of the acting was bad. Some were a little better than others but not by much.

Really all of it? The girl was fine and lin Shane was great.

Are you, all of you, insane? His character, whose wife died, is forced to care for his kids, and run his household, and trying to hold it together, is *going* to rely on his daughter for help. He's awkward because...nearly full-grown daughter living in her own world, he can't relate to her.

Dermot Mulroney is a fabulous actor, a very talented (and attractive) man. You're all calling him awkward and weird...that means he's done his job well, because that's exactly what you're supposed to think of him.

(and attractive) man

I think we know who the nutjob is here!

I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.
