Holy crap this is gonna suck so bad.

Not because it's Colombian or anything, but because it's gonna be most likely a 60 minute, Monday-thru-Friday telenovela style drama.
Case in point: El Cartel http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0493463/
I seriously hope nobody that liked BrBa or has good taste expects anything from this.

I love BB so much and I got so ANGRY when I heard they are doing a Colombian adaptation. Stupid idiots.

By the way, I'm from Colombia. So I know what I'm talking about. There has never been (and I'm sure never will) a Colombian TV Show or movie with even the 10% of writing creativity and quality Breaking Bad has.

The only thing I can do is stay away from it, I guess. I just hope they cancel this after their first season. I feel embarrassed just by its bare existence.

Season? don't you remember that Colombian shows often don't get divided in seasons? they just do like 100 episodes and put them on TV monday to friday for months until the story ends.

reply

I'm not sure about this one, some shows made by Sony have actual seasons, like Los Caballeros las Prefieren Brutas. If this is going to be broadcasted by Sony Entertainment Television it will probably have a regular 22-episode season.

'La Seleccion', the series about the great Colombian football team from the 90's, also has seasons.

Why do you care so much? America adopts films and TV shows from other countries all the time. Just don't watch it, it's obviously not geared to you or English speaking countries in general.

Also Breaking Bad isn't THAT great. Grow up pleb.

Mucho colombiano tan chiviado! I guess you've never seen 'El Cartel de los Sapos' or even 'Betty la Fea', which has been adapted in many countries, even spawning a US version. Self-hating Colombians like you are a disgrace!

reply

Seriously!

reply

Betty la Fea? Pffff por favor, para qué discutirle con ese argumento? Jajajaja

reply

I was just going to say that Metastasis may be an intentional retaliation to the US making their version of Betty La fea, it was bad enough to copy the show, but to make the ugly girl hispanic when she could have been an american girl just like the rest of the cast?

reply

I think it was a good idea to make the lead character a Latina, just like she was in the original version. What ticked me off is that they made her Mexican-American instead of Colombian-American.

reply

Hey, Capitan Justicia,

I gotta agree with you that "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea" was one of the best telenovelas to ever come out of Latin America. The sequel was trash.

Now, I'm 100% gringo and learned spanish after moving to my current home in South America.

There have been only a few shows that I enjoyed:

"A Todo Dar" with Alex Zisis & Alejandro Castillo
"Morelia" with Arturo Peniche
"La Usurpadora" with Gabriela Spanic
"40 y Tantos" (which I called "40 Fools") with Pancho Melo and Paola Volpato

I'm no fan of soap opera, but cuando tu pareja tiene el control...

I'm looking forward to Metastasis. It's going to show up on FoxLife so I'm going to take a look.

In the meantime, here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoH2gu7snwc

That is such an idiotic assessment of what so far has been a very good adaptation of a great series...I will give it a ten!

reply

Give it a 1 or a 10, it will still be at 3.6 

Wow, you're pretty negative about a show that:

a) you're not going to be watching in the first place, and
b) not targeted towards you and your demographic.

You've seen Breaking Bad from start to finish? Good. This show is not for your. It's an adaptation that Sony, the show's producers, is working on. Vince Gilligan and other writers from the series are consultants on Metastasis, so at least a chunk of the original show's direction will be retained.

If it's going to be a Monday - Friday telenovela, then they'll easily be done after 62 episodes in about 13 weeks rather than five years. Or not, who knows at this point?

But, again, this show isn't for you.

reply

I'm not saying this show is for me. It's just I love and respect the show and after watching the lame-ass trailer for this new production and realizing it's not a parody I felt so angry. The fact that they couldn't even get the wig of that guy look realistic, it's horrible. But anyway...

Remakes are a bad idea to start with.

Breaking Bad is just perfect as it is. This will be just a cheap knock out from the original.

Why oh why?

reply

A cheap knock out? You're an idiot, just stop talking.

reply

Then don't watch it.

Because, as we all know, hailing from a country wherein a show is being filmed gives one praeternatural powers regarding every facet of said production...

I just watched 15 min. of the first episode and it's the worst piece of *beep* I've ever seen, it's basically a frame by frame copy of the original but with terrible acting, uninspired casting, poor production values and horribly delivered dialogue. Only plebs with no taste would watch this instead of the original.

You should give it another try! The Tuco character (though very short-lived) is MUCH better in this version than in the original. As I've posted before though, I have only seen about half of season one of BrBa so I don't know about the other characters...but I am really enjoying this Colombian version.

reply

No thanks, I'd rather watch the original show once again (and I will) than bother with a sub-par remake. And if you're enjoying this poorly made version, the original will blow your freaking mind.

Wow my pretentious turd alarm is at defcon 5 after reading this post.

That is a funny retort; well done!

I just binge watched it on Netflix and I give it a ten. At first I was distracted mentally comparing it to the original but I soon got into it and realized the show was standing on its own.

The acting was good and the Bogotá setting was fascinating.

Many of the actors put their own special stamp on the role, Walter, Cielo, Héctor Salamanca, Tuco, Mario, Gustavo, Walter Jr., Henry, Mariá to name a few.

I watched it with Spanish subtitles and frequently checking words on Google translate. I watched one episode briefly with English subtitles but I found that distracting. For me it was not only enjoying the remake but an interesting way to broaden my understanding of Spanish.

For me it's a 10.
