Who owns the rights? And shopping to another network

Who owns the rights for a certain television show? Is it show's creator who also serves as executive producer and lead writer or studio?

And why, whoever owns the show, never (with few exceptions) shop the show, what got cancelled after full season, to another network, cable or even streaming service?

My own television schedule contains all shows from Network, Cable and Hulu. Season starts June 1st.

I think season 3 would have been great year and I think it would be great if another network picks up the show.

To answer your question, The Mindy Project after several full season was cancelled from network TV, then it was moved to HULU. I never watched the show, so I can't comment on it, but I am a fan of Mysteries of Laura, and I am shocked at hearing about it being cancelled.

I still watch mindy project... but it's a lot different on Hulu.
Community also was picked up by Yahoo!'s streaming service. It's a shame it's not on Hulu, netflix or amazon prime. I'm not subscribing to another.
I think Arrested Develepment's continuation (last season) was also picked up by one of the streaming service's production.

As for the Mysteries of Laura. I'm about a dozen or so episodes in. I have mixed feelings. It's a little too soap opera-y at times. And the premise is a little ridiculous (yeah, like the NYPD would ever transfer someone to captain over their recent ex-wife). I think it's fun, but I'm not surprised it was cancelled. I doubt it will get picked up.

any suggestions for other binge-watch worthy shows? (We do like cop shows)
