I hated the ending!

Okay, let me take that back. I actually liked the ending, but why didn't Jack just give Seagal the money back? He could have lived! Seagal even told him "You killed niran, and I am grateful for that." So why did he try to fight? Would he rather die a criminal? Awesome film though. I just wanted to see Jack and Avalon live happily ever after.
