Thoughts about season 2 finale (spoilers obviously)

Wow, I wasn't expecting all this death and destruction but I liked the new "whodunnit" angle. Do you guys think Ben will survive his injuries? I knew he'll be beaten to near death by that guy the second they've mentioned he's in danger.

It's really hard to predict what's going to happen next on a show that defies logic this casually, but my guess is that Crash and Carter will be an item again, Max will probably get out of jail before S03e01 reaches its end (they'll find some contrived reason for this) and Ben will stay alive but with major injuries (he'll be in a coma for a while or in a wheelchair) and Liz, David & Lori will take care of him together.

Your thoughts?

I was thinking more along the dramatic side of things, like Taylor finally slapping Carter in her face, not physically, but telling her everything horrible that's happened is a consequence of her selfish and thoughtless ways. That it's why kids their age require parental consent. That she can have warm feelings for her kidnapping mama but Lori's a twisted person and hasn't provided her with a solid enough foundation to make adult choices. That because of her ridiculous desire to work as an underage person in a bar and become sexually involved with it's unscrupulous owner, the man is dead, her brother might be dead, her abductor mom was jailed, her best friend's boyfriend is dead, and her sister's boyfriend is now in jail. All those lives ruined because of her.

Then punch her in the face, not physically, but tell her she needs to slow down, do some serious introspection, that very little comes easy and she needs to put forth some effort, learn the meaning of "prudent" and figure out where she's going in her life, develop some problem solving and decision making skills, GO BACK TO SCHOOL, stay away from drugs and alcohol, and keep her legs closed for a little while.

I know it's not all Carter's fault. That every one of those individuals acted on their own free will. But she needs to understand that she leads the people who care about her into viper pits where they constantly have to pull her out. And she's the only one left standing who's unscathed.

So while she stood there with her arms folded all self-righteous-like, I just wanted Taylor to pounce on her and beat the s__t out of her. Even though Carter was right about Max; he wouldn't have been able to live with the lie.

And David's got a monster of a best selling sequel to write.

I know I actually guffawed so loudly when Carter was like "he has to tell the truth!" Da Heck Girl!? Since when are you the prime example of truth-telling!? Especially to the police etc with all the laws she's breaking!

Then she's trying to make out like the courts would be reasonable about it!?

While I agree, Max is too good a person to have allowed another person to take the fall for him, the fact that Carter was not willing to support Taylor and Lori's decisions to cover things up, shows complete ignorance and hypocrisy on her part.

Also I feel her behavior would have helped push him into going to the police station and turning himself in.

If she had just put on a brave facade and agreed with Taylor and Lori, even if she didn't really, it could have helped things just settle a bit, before they decided what to do next.

I think Ben will def survive his injuries. I think we'll see plenty of him in the upcoming season. Hello Bird? (I could be wrong there)
I think Crash will help Liz take down the drug dealer dude. I do not think Crash will quite win Carter back just yet. The writer's will make that happen when they see the show slowing down and are sensing a final season is upon them. Carter has too much trouble to get into to settle down with Crash just yet. I personally don't think she deserves him, but whatever.
I'm looking for next season to possibly be a very Court Room Drama kind of season/setting. I hope it doesn't get too boring with Lawyers, Judges and all that yawn fest. I think Max will get off because it will be proven he was defending Carter's life. I also think Lori will wind up doing some jail time for lying and interfering concerning the case.

the only thing I'm stumped about is what will Carter do this season to make us loathe her even more...
most unlikable lead character in a teen drama in the history of the world! *throws rocks at Carter*

Thank you all for your input.

@Top_Shelf - I'd like to see Taylor confront Carter and I'm sure that will happen but I doubt that Carter will feel guilty about anything. After all, she was just being "true to herself" when she decided to work in the bar.

@Taco_Lips I doubt that Max will stay in prison. They'll find a way to get him of the hook.

@Cryscket I believe and hope that there won't be much court scenes next season 'cause when I see the way these writers deal with legal matters it stretches my willful suspension of disbelief just too much.

The reason I think there won't be much court scenes (other than writers' complete lack of knowledge about legal proceedings) is that teens are the target audience for this show and MTV believes that teens don't like to watch courtroom dramas, they'd rather watch cute and sexy youngsters drinking and partying.
