English accents

Appreciate that there are so many English actors playing Americans these days.... And I can only hope they are doing a good of it. But the English accents in episode 1 leave a lot to be desired. Maybe Mick Jagger was the voice coach???

I don't know about the kid who plays Plant, but they guy who portrayed the manager, Peter Grant, is actually from England (Liverpool). Perhaps, accents have evolved slightly over the past 40 years or so. I mean, people from Mass don't talk like Kennedy anymore...but that was a common accent back in the 60s.

Grant rocked!!!

"Kip Stevens" from the Nasty Bits is a Brit--James Jagger. There are many different British accents, depending where one is from.

Many many bands and artists 70/80's thought it was waaaaayyy cool to adopt 'Mid Atlantic' accents, Plant included, also Coverdale and Ian Gillan ... some of their YouTube interviews from the period are really embarrassing ... so the show got it right ... in my opinion.

Cleverly referenced in 'The Rocker'

Sorry but completely disagree. Plant is from Wolverhampton in the English Midlands, people there speak with a distinctive twang. Unfortunately they had the actor portraying him attempting a cockney accent but Plant was not a cockney. So in reality they were miles off, no idea why as surely all they had to do was watch some old footage of Robert Plant from that period.

Cockney definition: a native of East London, traditionally one born within hearing of Bow Bells.

They probably had Peter Grant right although he was much heavier in real life. Scary character too.

It smells like a Spin Doctors concert in here.

Robert Plants accent was ridiculous

reply

The guy who played Robert Plant used a cockney accent, which was wrong,
but most people would not know that.
