Is it a requirement for prequels to be shot digitally these days?

2/3 of the Star Wars prequels were digitally shot (Lucas even wanted to shoot Ep. 1 digitally) and they looked inferior to the original trilogy and The Force Awakens. Ironically, Rogue One, a prequel, is shot digitally, too.

The Hobbit trilogy was shot digitally in 48 fps and they looked inferior to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Fantastic Beasts is the first in the Wizarding World franchise to be shot digitally, and surprise, it looks inferior to the original films.

Now, you can make digital look good, but you have to be Deakins, Lubezki, or other highly skilled cinematographers to achieve that. Most of the time, they look like they weren't made for the big screen. Just look at the marvel films. Say what you will about the DC films but since they were shot on film, they look far more cinematic.
