$250,000 Prize

If you are going to give away a quater of a million dollars why only mention it in the final episode!

Had they mentioned this from episode 1 it would have hooked a lot more viewers through, the fact they only mentioned it in the last episode and the final couple only found out about it after the selection it seemed like a massive waste of that much money.

with poor planning like this its no wonder this show didn't make it passed episode 4.

Totally! The concept of this show wasn't the only thing that was flawed. The whole execution was all over the place. Only mentioning the prize like it was an afterthought seemed very amateurish. How on earth could the girl who won accept 'Sir' for the real him as she had no idea who that was!

You obviously don't know the concept of the show. This is a revamp of two shows that were successful, Joe Millionaire and For Love or Money. The money is revealed later because the contestant is bring tested on if they wanted the real person or the wealth and status they thought they was getting.

You obviously didn't understand my point, The money should have been revealed to THE AUDIENCE watching at home on episode 1, you don't have to tell the contestants until after the final decision but the home audience would have more invested in the outcome of the show if they knew about the quater of a million dollars from the get go.

You obviously still don't see how this show is just a remake. It was obvious that they would receive money. Pretty much every reality show has a surprise reveal and reward. I really don't see how the prize announcement would have affected viewership

So let me get this straight, What you saying is that people watching at home wouldn't have cared if they knew from the start there was a $250 thousand dollar prize on the line? Well if that was the case why would they even bother giving away that money? the contestants signed on without the incentive for money so they have no reason to give away that much unless it would increase viewership.

Secondly I never said this wasn't a remake, it's clearly just a new spin on Joe Millionaire.

lastly by you stating you don't get how giving people a small fortune would affect viewership is basically you saying you don't understand how gameshows in general work and makes you look very simple.

I would like to add that my husband sat next to me every episode rolling his eyes but when they finally revealed the prize he said "They've finally made it interesting." I bet he would have been more interested if they would have let the audience in on this at the beginning instead of waiting till the final episode to say "Oh by the way...."

So, I have to agree with dancinlukey here.

Also, as a side note, when they said they had a "surprise" I honestly thought they might have bought Matt Hicks an English title, which you can apparently buy legally through The Manorial Society starting at around 5 thousand pounds.

Don't be ridiculous! Jack would never die without telling me!

I've just finished watching this show, and I honestly believe that knowing about the prize money wouldn't make that much difference. After all, everyone knows there is prize money if you watch any of these types of shows, such as The Bachelor or Beauty and the Geek. What I think would have made it a lot more interesting, and possibly gain more viewers, was if 'Harry' revealed to the exiting girl at the end of each episode who he really was. Along the lines of "I would like you to leave the estate, and by the way, it's not really my estate..." type of thing.

Eh? 'Revamp'? You mean a dreadfully poor imitation! I watched Joe Millionaire and that was far more engaging because it had an element of originality and wasn't put together for the sole purpose of making women look stupid.

There's another big difference between Joe Millionaire and this show too. In the former, a man merely pretended he was wealthy but didn't conceal other aspects of his personality/character. In this show we have someone completely pretending to be someone else. How on earth could there be a prize based on a woman accepting him for 'what he is' when she knew absolutely nothing about him. Do you not see how flawed that is?

The only positive thing I can say about this programme is that it failed and that might stop other similar formats getting commissioned again.
