Underrated

Anyone else find this movie to be underrated. It's sad to see it didn't get the awards recognition that it deserved. Brilliant film.

What award should it have won?
What made it brilliant?
It was so over the top, and I feel Reitmans worst film. The acting was fine. It's just trying to peek behind the curtain of a very small amount of screwed up families. The only sure thing is that it's saying the Adults are crazier than the children, and the kids are all right so to speak. I wish after seeing it a few times I could say it was great, but IMHO it was just a silly message. We are all insignificant in the world, and that the only ones that can save us are ourselves. The final narration is probably all you need to hear to sum up this mediocre film.

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

I wanted to like this movie, because of Reitman's ability to make funny and heartbreaking intimate moments out of broad topics; but I have tried to watch M, W & C at least 5 times since it came out and can't find much to enjoy. It feels more like I keep finding less to like. Reitman's writing took an interesting subject and became way too preachy, the actors are almost all great; but the script was so weak they felt like cliches. For me the worst were Garner's ridiculous character and Elgort's. His scenes especially just become more cringeworthy for me every viewing. The only two things I found that I still enjoy about it are Emma Thompson's narration and oddly Judy Greer's performance; hers at least felt more realistic. The tit for tat affairs with DeWitt and Sandler were such a waste of screen time. To have to sit through even more time with them was so exhausting feeling no investment in the characters. I wonder if Reitman's divorce is affecting his work, this was just too much of a holier-than-art-thou mess..
