All white cast?

Seriously, it's 2015 and a non-fictional movie taking place in the state of Texas has no other than white people in the lead cast? That's absolutely pathetic. I actually really liked the story but the lack of diversity in the cast was just plain embarrassing

reply

Racist.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I live in england and happen to be white so I don't know what the other poster meant by
' racist ' but I can't agree more that in this day and age, our media should be so much more reflective of diversity. Although in
fairness, we did have fleeting appearances from the Dennis Haysbert character and the shrink, so it's not quite as bad as some I've seen

reply

I mean racist because someone that is looking for different races in a movie is by nature racist.

I hear all the time people say, "We taught our children to only see one color." Bull ****ing crap.

The minute someone says, "This movie has only whites/blacks, etc." they are automatically racist because race actually means something to them.

If society wants to get over race, we need to stop looking at race as an issue. Even some dumb ESPN reporter was proposing the Eagles (NFL) were racist because they released/let go a few African American players. Are you kidding me?

So yes, by saying, "OMG this movie should've had blacks!" you're racist.

What about movies without whites? Like Friday? Should I be upset because there were no white people in it? It's Texas, there's nearly 27M people there... I think a story about 10 main white people is completely realistic... Last I checked the population of Texas was not 99.9% black.

reply

Just fyi the OP did not say the movie had no blacks in it. They said the movie only had whites. There are a ton of different races in the world other than white and black. Well no not a ton buy there are asians, native americans, latinos and within those general ones are some more. So just because YOU assumed they meant only black could come off that those are the only two races you see and could also be construed as racist.

reply

His point was nothing to do with blacks or whites. His point was that if you notice A RACE, or LACK OF race diversity then you are racist. Seems you completely missed the point of the comment. He was saying people who are not racist don't notice if there are different races.

"There are always rewards for those who state the obvious frequently and with conviction."

reply

I'm tired of this argument that if you don't want racism to exist just stop acknowledging that there are different races in the world. Sure in a perfect world everybody would be equal and we would stop talking about it, but it just so happens that in present day America and other countries, minorities don't get the same exposure and rights as white people. We have to acknowledge it and find it if we are to fix it, and willing ignorance is not helping anything.
Also just remember that because everything seems fine from your perspective, doesn't mean that other people from other races don't see these kind of injustices every day. It's nice to be white and have almost everything be catered to you, so I'm sure just shutting your eyes and pretending everything is great is easy.

There is a black man in this the escort

reply

The only minority in the movie was used just for sex.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

reply

That's a pretty skewed view of the relationship, and makes me think you didn't actually watch the movie, or this scene at any rate. They're two people who are both bored with their marriages and they seek other partners on Ashley Madison. If she's using him, then he's using her too.

Never settle with words what you can accomplish with a flamethrower.

reply

Okaye.
That doesn't make my sentence less true. Although he's using her for sex, he's still being used for sex as well.
And yes, thank you, I did watch the movie.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

reply

He's not an escort--he's her date. Ashley Madison, as I think we all know by now, with the hack and subsequent leak recently, is a site for married people who are looking for other people to date secretly. So the black guy was more accurately a boyfriend, another married Ashley Madison user looking for people to meet.

Never settle with words what you can accomplish with a flamethrower.

reply

Black people don't use the internet

reply

You're dismissed.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

They should rename the move White Men, White Women, and White Children to be more accurate.

RACIST, in my dictionary, is one who spends his or her time promoting and exploiting racism for attention or personal gain. When we start plugging stereotypes into movies merely based on race, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation, we have become what we despise.

Some of the contributors here remind me of a comment from one of my slower adult students a few years back, "I CAN'T BE RACIST, I'M BLACK!" I think we are all capable of prejudging our neighbor. (...and, yes, Camille, there is also a difference between ignorant and stupid.) If you don't know who, I may be talking about you.

reply

There's a difference between "prejudging" and racism. Prejudging is a thought, sometimes unintentional, while racism is acting on it and even being proud of it. You also need to be in a position of power to be racist, so no, the student who you described as slow was correct, black people cant be racist. They can be prejudiced, but not racist.

reply

You're a complete imbecile. First off, there is a black man in this movie.

Not everything is about equal rights, get over yourself. There are numerous black movies with all black cast, what about those, huh?
Sometimes equal rights people go full retard.

OP is a racist!
