A decent movie but that couple....

The first half of this movie was like watching a 40 minute long "public display of affection" with a really icky couple. I mean she was alright, but the guy was just gross. "F*k you indian food" really? On a video chronicling your honeymoon? I'm not a prude but isn't this something that you would show your relatives and future children? And "Rest your womb" ?!?! Who talks like that? Oh and his follow-up line "I just meant how I f*ked you so hard!" Wow, what a catch this guy was. I couldn't wait for something to happen to one or both of them just so I didn't have to watch them being "affectionate" to each other anymore.

I kind of agree, not sure about a full 40 minutes(I'd have the rewatch), but at least the first 20 minutes were so over the top with the lovey dovey-ness it was awkward and annoying! It was ridiculous, and like you said some of the dialogue was just random as hell!

All and all, I gave the movie a (5/10) because the middle portion was genuinely suspenseful and I really wanted to know what the hell was going on! But once the ending came around and it was basically 'Aliens', that kind of killed it for me, the payoff wasn't worth it.

They are NEWLYWEDS. Of course they're overly affectionate.

not the point ...

reply

It IS the point actually.

It's true that newlyweds are known for being annoying with the PDA, but this isn't real life. They didn't need to go so over the top. It was a really off-putting way to introduce characters we're supposed to care about.

I disagree. Very well done and very realistic.

reply

So very much not, just hurtfully overdone.

reply

It's not.

reply

Seems like a major part of the story.

But the Indian food gave him diarrhea when he was trying to bang his hot (future) wife. Of course he would have some ill will.

reply

It's written and directed by a woman. What do you expect.

reply

Not only was all the 'honey bee' crap off-putting but the two actors had zero chemistry. It was like watching the frog and the (poor) worm (she killed) mating.

The point of the first 40 mins was to show the effects that Honeybea's ''disease'' had at their relationship. How distant they became after that. It could(should) have been handled better.
Film overall was pretty suspenseful but all the build-up led to an underwhelming 'twist' ending.

They didn't bug me too much. Was a very predictable movie but I still enjoyed it for what it was. Went in with no expectations so it wasn't too bad.

I actually didn't think it was all that predictable. It wasn't mind blowing, but didn't end up going where I thought it was.

I'm not sure what the actors thought of when reading the dialogue.
