Camera filter / no Toledo?

I noticed that during many of the establishing shots, the edges of the shot were blurred, with only the center in focus. Did anyone else find this as distracting as I did?

And I was very surprised that no screen time was given to Toledo during the discussion of Al-Andalus; instead, we see several cathedrals in Seville, but not Santa Maria La Blanca or the Sinagoga del Transito in Toledo (which today houses an excellent museum). When I lived in Spain, I made it a point to visit Toledo and as many Sephardic museums and Jewish quarters as I had time for, but there are a great many Jewish quarters that were not mentioned (I guess due to time constraints).
