The last 10 minutes kind of kills it (spoilers)

The ending is the weak point of the film, and really drags the whole thing down. The rest was pretty good - certainly not Flanagan's best work, but decent for what it was. If it had ended right after Jessie beat the Canker Man and took Cody home, I'd have had no complaints. Unfortunately it keeps going for another ten minutes after that so Jessie can spell out the plot of the movie for us (and give us a sappy speech about love and loss). The origin story of the Canker Man was actually pretty good, I just wish they'd found a way to work it into the main story instead of tacking it on at the end.
