I'm going to say it: MEH.....

This movie started off good, and I was quite compelled.... then I got bored by this girl's unremarkable quest to get off and be "loved". Come on, people—it's not that profound.

By the way, I'm not a prude. I loved "Fish Tank" from beginning to end.

This movie is just boring, and her "revelation" is actually quite a "duh" moment. You could read it off of a Starbucks inspirational mug. Seriously.

I loved Fish Tank, too, a much superior film.

Thank you. Fish Tank was also palpably more genuine. "Diary" just feels like a hipster attempt at being edgy and different. It's annoying.

To be honest, I was underwhelmed as well. I loved the book but this feels like they barely scratched the surface and somehow ignored the issues raised by the book (as well as most of the characters personalities) to focus on some shallow and cliché tale of "female coming of age" and "female empowerment" with no substance.

Omg it did remind me of Fish Tank! Do you think the mom in Fish Tank knew, what happen?

reply

Yeah, so many people are shouting at each other that it is obscene and despicable, or a brilliant masterpiece. I vote "neither". Good but slight: 6/10
