Lead characters personality reminds me of the kid from Infamous, and his abilities are like a mixture of both games..

I thought the same thing while watching this film. I have no idea when the novel was written, but I found myself suspecting the author was heavily inspired by his or her experience playing those two games.
shareI'm thinking he's a gamer, and it was what drew the heaviest influence for him.. There's too many coincidences to say otherwise..
shareI would've said that too, but the book that this movie was based on was published in 2010 and the first watchdogs came out in 2014...so it's almost like the game was influenced by the book...but that's not the case either as the concept for watch dogs was already determined in 2009 and that's when development began.
So the movie makers were probably influenced by watchdogs but the book and game were conceived of separately. Stuff like that happens from time to time.
