Times when she wasn't a good ma (spoilers)

I didn't like how when she told Jack about the world and he refused to believe her, it was like she held a grudge against him instead of understanding things from his perspective. That's all he knows. It's no different than when you tell a kid they are moving. She basically ignores him when he talks to her. It's not until he questions what he sees on TV that she talks to him again. I also felt like it was kind of abusive to put boiling water all over him just to make him look sick. That could be really dangerous. And to make him roll up in a rug like that, he could have suffocated. I felt like she was only thinking of her escape instead of her son's wellbeing in trying to escape. Luckily, Old Nick didn't kill him when he was found out. And then to try to kill herself after and leave him alone like that was selfish.

Snowflakey commentary.

The son was rude and yelled at his mom all the time. Is that the normal behaviour of a child in the USA?
