Jacob Tremblay was incredible!

I have seen several posts and countless articles/reviews praising Brie Larson. She did a great job but it is Jacob's performace that I keep thinking about weeks after I watched the movie. He was absolutely amazing. I read the book and did not believe the movie would even come close to how great the book was because I thought there would be no way they could find a kid who could play this role realistically. Jacob proved me wrong and then some! This kid is going places. He is extremely talented. I am outraged that he wasn't nominated for an academy award as well. In my opinion last oscars' nominees were very lackluster and Jacob acted circles around several of the best actor choices. I have never been so upset before about a stranger getting slighted, which just goes to show how much his performance touched me. He has made me a big fan and I cant wait to see how well he does in "Wonder". But anyway, I was just wondering of anyone else thought that his performance was the highlight of "Room" and not Larson's (although I thought she did well also)?

The kid was simply amazing!

I did too. That's a big reason I'm not a huge Brie fan. This kid carried the film and she took all the credit. No bueno.

reply

I wouldn't say she "took all the credit." It isn't like she accepted the awards without giving Jacob praise. She said many times she could not have done the film without an actor like him in the role of Jack.

It's not her fault she was nominated and he wasn't. He deserved to win alongside her, for sure, but if you want blame people, blame the Academy or A24.

There is the right thing to do and the wrong thing to do. Jacob stole this show. His performance took me out of myself and made me forgot it wasn't real, that he was acting, made my heart break for his struggle. Brie's performance did not as much. While it was good, it wasn't mind-blowing.

When more cast members than the one who actually got a nomination deserved a nomination THIS is the right thing to do. http://www.playbill.com/article/julie-andrews-declines-tony-nomination-com-328894

I thought he did an excellent job.

Incredible he was so *beep* annoying. All of his lines are yelling, screaming all that *beep* Shut the *beep* up you *beep* ass yeller.

Definitely a wtf moment when the award nominations were publicised. After seeing Room before I was so sure he was a shoo-in for Best Supporting Actor nomination, if not a win.

reply

He deserved a BEST ACTOR nomination, considering he was in virtually every scene, more scenes than Brie Larson was... But a Best Supporting Actor is more realistic for a child actor, to be honest.

Either way. It's terrible he didn't get nominated.

Yes. But then again he was not even nominated for this. I agree also with the other thread concerning the politics in this matter. Disappointing.

reply

I agree. He was wonderful. That little squeaky voice when he'd speak to us...perfect. He and Brie seemed to have a fantastic chemistry. I hope to see a lot more from this young man.

I think Brie Larson did a solid job, but I cannot deny the heart of the movie was the performance by Jacob Tremblay. Hands down best child acting I have ever seen. He was outstanding. I also thought Joan Allen did great as the mother. The only performance I did not like was William H. Macy as the father.

The Oscar should be given to the child. He was awesome:)

+1
He deserved the highest praise, award, everything.
So do the movie, the director, the screenwriter.
I watched the movie for the first time yesterday on DVD. Wow. Now I understand the praise it and its crew had on the Oscar night.

reply

Completely agree. That cute little girl's performance was amazing and Oscar worthy.
