Some High Points

--All the wins for "Behind the Candelabra", well-deserved. I wish that Rob Lowe could have been nominated too, but Scott Bakula was also wonderful.

--Too bad for "Phil Spector". I felt badly for the great Al Pacino to be mixed up with this mess -- awful script, shoddy concept, no insights at all into the great Phil Spector, although he is certainly no saint. It is said that Mamet did not even take the trouble to interview Spector. Maybe, someday, a decent biography about a rock and roll icon and legend - even the bad parts.

---I felt great about the win for Ellen Burstyn. She should have won the Oscar for "Requiem for a Dream".

---Bob Newhart. For his award, for the things he said, for reminding us of this living legend.

---The heartfelt tribute to Jonathan Winters. A wonderful, one-of-a-kind comedian.

---And an opportunity missed. Honey Boo-Boo as a presenter. Paired with Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, Chris Rock, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Ellen DeGeneres, or many others, she might have brought the house down.
