Most emotional scene?

Which scene did you think was the most emotional? There were many to choose from!

I thought the one that hit me the hardest was not even in the climax of the movie, but way towards the beginning when RJ broke up with his boyfriend Paul. That was so hard for me to watch I had to pause it. I have to commend the actor for Paul's character as well, in a movie where not many talents stood out, he actually brought emotions to the table.

I'd have to say that scene where Chris shook RJ's hand outside the hotel's door and then he goes in his room and lies down on the bed. The look on Chris' face was so...heartbreaking. I honestly teared up a bit.
I love the scene you described too. Paul (and Emily) were amazing.

I think I came close when he broke up with Paul. I knew it was going to happen, but he was such a nice guy, I almost didn't want it to happen. However, no scene in this movie got me the way the end of the first one did when RJ had to explain himself to his church officials.

I love the two of them together though. Not only are they both hot, they're both really good actors. I hope they do make a third because I would totally like to see it!

There were a few:
The one that stands out to me is where Chris is masturbating in the bathroom, it was so sad an pathetic.
Paul and RJ's breakup
The one where RJ walks Chris to his hotel room, they shake hands, and close the door. Chris expression is so sad. I realized that he wasn't over RJ and that seeing RJ really awakened something in him. Before that he has seemed so cold toward him.
Emily's scene with Chris' family where she crying and begging him to stay with her.
The scene where RJ is tearing up his hotel room.

The scene where RJ is tearing up his hotel room.

I had a lump in my throat during that scene. The pain he conveyed as he prayed, cried and lost it. I almost did too.
The scene during Chris' parents' anniversary when RJ walks up to Chris, asks him to forgive him then kisses him. If Emily didn't understand how Chris could abandon her I think that kiss showed her. That kiss was so passionate, base but gentle all at once. Chris totally forgot he had an audience. I was thinking the entire scene how it must have occurred to Emily that Chris never kissed her that way ever during their marriage. Very powerful scene indeed.

I don't love you enough to hate you!

I actually got really frustrated with this sequel. Why would tell create another story through an entire to movie, and in the end the two of them don't end up together!? I really didn't get that, they could as well have stopped on the first one if nothing would actually change.

Wasn't there a scene near the end where Chris has a plane ticket to Seattle lying on a table?

reply

I thought it was implied that they did end up together. The plane ticket on the table at the end and the part where RJ says 'it's not a matter of if, but when' he'll see Chris again.

Yes, it was implied that Chris was going to visit RJ. The plane ticket was shown from Salt Lake to Seattle. Did anyone notice the plane ticket was lying across the cover of RJ's book? You could see RJ's full name "Robert Smith" along with a partial book title with "closet" in the name. Remember, he told Chris he had written a few short non-fiction books and Chris later told him he read one but could not remember which book he had read.

I love this movie, as well as the first one, and hope that a third one will be made to continue the story of RJ and Chris. I agree that it was implied that they end up together. The plane ticket across the book with RJ's name caught my eye as well. I knew for certain that the title contained the word "closets" and almost as certain that it contained the word "school". Curiosity got the best of me and I searched Amazon and within a couple of minutes I spotted the lockers cover with the boys hand. The book is titled "This High School Has Closets" by Robert Joseph Greene and is classified as Gay Fiction. Now I'm curious to get the book and read it as well.

So many great scenes in he movie. But to answer the question, for me it was when RJ cut his ties to LDS. Loved how that scene played. The final prayers to the heavenly father, the rage, and then acknowledgement he was moving on. In the end RJ walked out and laid the underwear in the bin.

Did anyone else break down after RJ's wacko scene when he showed up at Chris's dinner, kissing him and saying farewell, I certainly did, and I admired him being so self-sacrificing: not letting him leave his new life for him. Of course, Chris's speech to RJ was also heartbreaking in the hotel, I didn't care much for Chris's wife becoming so clingy: I ended up in a very similiar situation with my first girlfriend:: no I'm not gay actually I'm bi,but I'm not ashamed either way so I related to that part a little too well. I have a lot to add here, but right now, I need to get ready for work, and am running out of time, responses are welcome...within reason.

There were several scenes that I felt were emotional and it's hard to pick one for the most emotional. So, I will tell the two that top the list for me. Before I do, I would like to say that the cast does an excellent job telling this story. I feel that there was a genuine chemistry between Nick and Benjamin (RJ and Chris). If there was no real chemistry there, then they are SUPERB actors.

The most emotional scene for me is the scene where Chris has his family gathered so that he can admit his dishonesty to them and "come clean." The emotion really is its strongest when he states the words, "I'm gay...And, I'm in love with him." When the camera turns to RJ you can see the emotion in his face and especially his eyes. You can almost feel his relief that after making this uninvited journey to bring closure to something from his past, he receives perhaps the greatest gift he could have expected from this, an affirmation that Chris does indeed love him.

Coming in at a close second to that scene, is toward the end of the movie, at the anniversary party for the parents of Chris. RJ has confronted his emotions in the hotel room and determined that he needs to say goodbye (I feel because he recognizes that he is breaking up a home and a child is involved). After asking Chris to forgive him, he initiates a passionate kiss. When the kiss concludes and he leans away from Chris you can see the thin line of saliva connecting their lips. AWESOME!!! To bring dramatic release to the moment RJ says, "I just saved you a hundred dollars in stamps," and turns and walks away leaving Chris standing there in front of family and friends. Very emotional.

For what it's worth, I think both Nick and Benjamin are nice looking guys, but Nick Ferrucci is SMOKING HOT!!!

True, there were indeed many emotional scenes. But, just like the Original Poster stated, the scene which choked me the most was the break-up of RJ with Paul. Thomas Stroppel as Paul gave an outstanding performance. A multitude of utterly believable emotions in his face and eyes.
