The scene with Aaron...

...while the two women are sent off to get ice cream. I had difficulty understanding the usefulness of this scene. Though well done, it doesn't seem to add anything to the story. If it's intended to show how defensive Chris is, well, we've already seen that in his attitude when RJ reappears in his life. And I find it difficult to believe that Chris didn't need to explain anything to Emily when she came back and the other couple left so abruptly. Maybe it's simply designed to show a further aspect of gay life within the Mormon church.
