Only the Brits can come up with such a movie.
I simply adored it.
All characters no matter how many lines they have are substance. You cannot help feeling for all of them trying to survive as a group and as individuals.
If you liked "Beautiful thing", "Billy Elliott", or "Kinky boots", you'll love the journey the movie is taking you on.
Sadly, I very much expect this film doesn't portray the bitterness, venality and violence that encapsulated the actual events? It's probably all very one sided and twee and paints a picture of a heroic struggle by the poor, exploited miners and their equally heroic, but misunderstood, leader Scargill!

I strongly recommend you try watching it before casting aspersions.
I loved it, aside from a few shots of pushing and shoving the level of violence and intimidation (of miners by police, and strikebreakers by other miners) was underrepresented.
I watched it with a lovely Serbian lady who only arrived here in the 90s so knew little/nothing about those years she enjoyed it just as much.
