The movie was not thought what I thought it would be. Still, a good movie, although depressing. A little disjointed. Unsettling.
Still, Iam McKellan's performance is amazing. He truly is an amazing actor. The boy is outstanding. Laura Linney is great, as usual, although her role is less demanding.

McKellen gives a great performance, I'm glad some critic groups noticed, but a shame he wasn't in the radar of major awards.
It is great how he acts so much old and tired in his farm as opposed to Japan or London in the flashbacks, he is able to show the aging of the character beyond the make-up, which is also a standout in the film.

Taking on the age difference in his character was a great achievement. He does do 2 good portrayals as Holmes at different ages.
