Not saying it's bad, tried watching it 2-3 times now, keep falling asleep.

Did seam very slow and a bit here and there..
Question is do I continue, or if I didn't like first 40mins will I not like the remainder??

Well, there are no car chases, explosions or aliens, so perhaps you'd be better off elsewhere. This is character-led drama, not an action flick.
Most new movies edit things to fast, but this one went too far in the other direction. It's my major complaint of the film. Picking up the pace a bit would have made it more entertaining. I still enjoyed it though. If you didn't like the first 40 minutes, I'd say give up.
shareOnly you can decide that. It IS indeed a slow, character driven movie but very good nevertheless. Unless you started watching with different expectations.
shareIt is slow for your typical big-screen film. It's really a BBC TV movie that got the big screen treatment because Ian McKellen was in it.
I love it though. I was thinking about it for weeks after I saw it.
