The Game - Series 2 ?

Loved the show, great writing & acting. They left the series 1 ending with plenty of options for a series 2. So does anyone know if/when we might see a series 2?.

reply

Same. Loved it! I'm curious, if there were a series 2, how do you suppose it shall continue? Would it pick up from where it left off at series 1 or would there be a completely different cast, story similar to True Detective, the US series? I am for it continuing from where series 1 ended. Possibly, seeing Joe and Eulia (not sure I spelled the character's name correctly) try and out spy each other.

In the very last question of this interview, Toby Whithouse implies that there will be another series:

He doesn't imply it, he seems to confirm it :)
Awesome!

WHITHOUSE: Like any war, the Cold War lasted for decades. This is just a little moment within that war. And then, Season 2 and onwards, there are ramifications of the Season 1 story. There will be the next adventure, or the next chapter. But hopefully, there is a sense of completion, at the end of the first six. I’ve storylined Season 2 and written the first episode. It wasn’t all a dream. The story goes on.

Great interview! I should be content to know there's another season, but wish he had hinted about the cast.

Pleased about this, because I think it has great potential. The first season I took a while to warm up to, and there needs to be a little tweaking in some areas, in my opinion. They need to give Tom Hughes some breathing room, he needs to loosen up a bit. They need to use Rachel Stirling a lot more, she's wonderful. I hope we see Victoria Hamilton again, she was the stand-out for me, along with the man who plays Bobby.

The wonderful actor who played Bobby is Paul Ritter.... Watch him in a completely different role as the sleazy coroner in the first season of Vera...

Series 2 has been cancelled due to a lack of budget. Funny they always seem to have enough for rubbish TV like the Voice!

Can you provide a link confirming this?

Thank you! Sad news indeed.

How unfortunate. I was also looking forward to a second season.

WHY MUST MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS BE DONE AWAY WITH. There was so much left to tell, to explore. The cast had great chemistry, Joe Lamb was completely sympathetic and untrustworthy. The pacing was lovely, just enough suspense w/out dragging it out too much. And now I'll NEVER know if Bobby gets the job Daddy has or if Yulia really betrayed Joe, or anything.

Between, this, Top Gear getting replaced and the new Doctor Who season dragging River back into the picture [Moffat w/ his uninteresting bull writing getting stale stale stale.]... I'm done w/ BBC programming for a long while now. :(

I really liked the series, enough to watch in twice. I've checked around for a second season, but have not yet found anything indicating there will be a second season. My only criticism is the casting for the character 'Joe'. The actor Tom Hughes was far too young, in my opinion, to be playing what was a fairly senior MI5 operative.

BBC cancelled this, so no second series unfortunately.
