Spoilers....
I came in half way through the movie. Was there some bad history with Taryn and her mom. She went off on her mom which I found beyond disrespectful!! From what she was saying, it seemed like there were some issues.
Does anyone know?
The mom was overbearing because she had to work a lot when the daughter was younger (due to getting divorced), so she didn't get to spend much time with her daughter. When she got remarried, her new husband let her be a stay at home mom, so she tried to make up for the time she couldn't spend with her daughter when she was small by spending way too much time with her. Her daughter needed her space and she resented her mom for being so overbearing.
The mom and the daughter were both really annoying.

As I viewed the rest of the movie, things became more apparent.
The mother seemed ok from the portion I saw, the daughter...eh, regular teenage struggles.
Taryn's parents didn't get divorced. The father died. Slight difference there, NickiDrea...
