Is there a word for movies like this?

You know, movies with a generic plot and a new premise, where the premise is practically irrelevant to most of the plot? You can't make a movie with the word "Choking" in the title and then make the MAIN conflict something less dangerous like a teenager's angst.

The scene where she finally talks with her mom and also the very end where actually touching and well-acted. During the rest, most of the actors (except the lead who's consistently good) were weak and the dialogue was unintentionally funny at times.

I don't think that her personality changed that much, so I didn't sympathize with her old friend like I usually do in movies with this story. It felt like the friend was more driven by jealousy than concern.

I give it a 1/10 (could've been 0).

The moralist tone of this film made me sick. Good acting by the lead actress, I agree.
