So we are on episode 21 and still no coherent storyline....

I have liked this show although ultimately not as much as I thought, when it started I was fine with the stand alone goofy/weird episodes (the zombie episode is still one of the best in the series) however by this point I figured the show would have established some sort of ongoing narrative to take place outside the Stand alone episodes, but yeah not so much.

I mean the show only has 5 episodes left after the most recent one, and what's even stranger is I know I have seen some characters in the early concept art who have yet to appear once.

Also I will have to say I though most episodes were going to be out and out hilarious sense this show has never taken itself seriously, however some of the episodes have been just too weird to be funny, in that some of the material is so strange and its only used in one episode it seems kind of pointless as a lot of it is never referenced again.

I also kind of find it funny that there are at least 4 To Be Continued.... episodes which in all reality will probably not be resolved.

The show seems to have made the point, to me at least, that there never *will* be a central storyline in the traditional sense.

The central storyline we do get is dropped in crumbs between episodes, starting with Dandy tugging on a cosmic string, and told as we journey through the infinite Dandys that were spawned from that event.

Some episodes are more outright amusing than others, but the majority of episodes deserve a few watches, as they are generally trying to say something fairly philosophical or, at least, lure you into a philosophical mindset then tell you that the missing component of an equation that can re-write space is a crudely drawn pair of boobies on a napkin.

To watch Dandy... to appreciate Dandy... you've gotta be able to live with the flow, Baby.

Dandy's reality changes from day to day, just within his own skull and not even accounting for parallel dimensions. When you then take into account the idea of infinite possible Dandys carrying out infinite possible idiotic adventures across space, you get the procedural genius of the show.

Dandy seems, for all intents and purposes, to be a God. He held the key to the equation that destroyed Dr. Gel's mind, and the Gogol Empire regards him as the most important thing in the universe.

Given the number of galaxy-changing events that have directly hinged on Dandy's actions across more than a handful of dimensions, it's fair to ask: Is Dandy God?

Beautiful reply. 100% agree.

What is people's obsession with storylines? Can we just have a fun show to watch that is designed to just make no sense, be completely ridiculous and put you in a good mood? And then if there is a storyline, you're gonna complain about it. Stfu or don't watch it. It's anime...don't take it so serious.

Exactly this. This show is simply designed to entertain with each episode, and not really tell an ongoing story.
