I worry this is the beginning of the end for IMDB

8.9/10 with 5,000 + votes worries me. If it was -500 votes sure, it will eventually even out. But 5000! IMDB need to place some failsafes so future vote rigging like this never takes place or I'm afraid this will be the beginning of their demise.

That has nothing to do with Christians, but i guess since youre an idiot, you can make stuff up!

reply

Most Christians are less intelligent than Atheists. MUCH LESS intelligent. Facts is facts, son.

reply

And which are you?? Cause you're talking like you don't have two brain cells to rub together. Intelligence has nothing to do with religious ideals...there is as many uninformed idiots following atheism, as there is uninformed idiots following Christianity, some people just blindly follow anything,...being atheist doesn't make you smarter than somebody who isn't, lol,...you're a shining example of that buddy. Btw, it's " facts ARE facts,...not facts is facts,..knowing things like THAT is what will make you smarter, it has zero to do with belief systems. #FACT

Only if it's deemed as successful - I guess this costs money as it takes time

If the makers feel they've seen a return of their investment then this'll happen on every 2-bit piece of crap

sometimes i doubt your commitment to sparkle motion

I haven't seen the movie, but i just watched the trailer, and seeing this has a 7.5 rating really surprised me from the trailer i watched....trailer kind of put me off wanting to watch this..

reply

Rotten Tomatoes is the *beep* now. IMDB is the past.

reply

I think that the director paid multiple people off to make 200 accounts each to give it a 10

I haven't seen it but I do not for one second believe that this is worth that high of rating just based on cast, trailer and preview pics

They need to make a system that disables having multiple accounts cause it's obvious that is what has happened here

Have you ever stared fear and danger in the eye and said; YES?

this is hardly the beginning though. this type of vote manipulation is done by the minions of big hollywood studios for many years now. so much so that now it's a tradition: big blockbusters, no matter how awful they are, almost always open with 8+ rating and after a year or so the rating drops down to 7 somethings or even lower if it is really bad.

same thing just happened with Terminator Genisys. it opened with 8+ and after only a couple months it's already down to 6.9 and seems like it will go further down.

the real takeaway of the story: IMDB must take necessary steps to safeguard the rating mechanism which is apparently very easy to toy with. but i'm not hopeful because as i said it's been like this for so many years now and IMDB acts like they haven't noticed which makes you think that either IMDB management itself or some guys at the IT department of IMDB profit really well from this vote manipulation business.

reply

I'm guessing the early high voters are from people that have worked on the film, I mean, who would want their name associated with a low rated film? Like I said, it usually evens out over 500+ votes that's why seeing over 5000 votes scared me, but coming back here after 6 months and seeing it balance back to 5.4 has made me restore faith back in the IMDB system..

TBH I use IMDB more for a quick idea of what the movie is about.

I haven't taken a 5+ IMDB star rating seriously in YEARS and I'm kind of shocked to hear people still think it's worth even a passing glance.

RT has started to move towards the IMDB style cast list synopsis and I have started just heading there first. I don't think there is any great loss when the IMDB swirly down the toilet crescendos.

They sold us out for IMDB Pro a while ago.

I've never really paid attention to the ratings, other than a 2.0 means "keep on walking." But whether a movie is a 5 or a 9, I still read the reviews and comments before committing my time. Everyone has different tastes, and I'm more interested in finding out if the movie is something I'm likely to enjoy, which a few reviews will usually tell me.

reply

philoj, I agree that everyone has different tastes, but I have to think that one must be devoid of ANY taste to even contemplate watching this tripe.

reply

Oh agreed - this was awful. I think my favorite part in the twenty minutes I watched was "In two thousand years nobody has understood the symbolism..."
