ending - how?

i couldn't see the ending when i watched this as the movie reel stopped working at the cinemas. Got a refund and all, but it was a film festival so no re-run.

could someone tell me how this ended? i hear there was a big twist and all.

This was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. The characters all behaved in completely stupid and unrealistic ways.

The big twist is that the killer was the mother of the girl with the eye patch. She was the one killing people and taking over their homes. She was totally crazy, and once she'd killed her victim, truly believed that everything was hers.

Eventually, she got burned alive in the protagonist's apartment.

A final "twist" was that some new people bought and moved into the apartment, not knowing that the eye patch girl was still hiding inside (presumably taking the place of her crazy mom).

But I thought the whole movie was dumb, the plot only moving forward by having the characters do incredibly dumb things.

The last twist was so dumb. I don't see why they added that in, because what in the world is a 5 year old child going to do it's not like she strong enough to harm the family ?

Well, I don't think it's intended to suggest the child would be murdering people, simply that she is lurking in crawlspaces in the building. A creepy ending planting the paranoid idea that others could be doing this very thing in YOUR apartment building. Dunh-dunh-duuuuunh.

They had marked the various apartments in that complex, remember? They were possibly working on ways to access those apartments as well. It's impossible that she could have remained hidden during the extinguishing of the fire and repairs. Therefore she had to have been hiding in another apartment(s) as unlikely and unreasonable as that may be. Effective creepy isn't always reasonable though.

There are some pretty glaring plot issues with the film mostly revolving around the twist reveal. I'm going to put these questions in a separate thread though as they are a little complex to explain succinctly.

Well, the guy couldn't handle the bitch crazy mother, so maybe the "eye patch girl" might be just as strong? LOL

This film really let me down with the weak characterisation and nonsensical behavioural patterns of the protagonists.

The mother of the eye patch girl is revealed to be the killer. She moves into the protagonists home after she knocks him out. His wife was on her way out to go to America with the kids but went back into the house to get some medicine for her daughter but gets knocked out by the killer. The father then shows up and a fight ensues, in the end he burns his kitchen along with the killer. After that they move and a new family moves in, also to reveal that the eye patch girl was still there the entire time squatting. She probably will continue to do so. Has nothing to do with whether she'll be a killer like some other people assume.
