Any alien is better than own government (?)

At least some main characters of the show are thinking that way. Molly Woods, it is understandable , because she has many birds in her head and she is obsessed with her ( robot ) baby and ( alien ) "son", but JD Richter could demonstrate clearer thinking. He may consider that general is bad ,corporation is bad and so government, but that does not give any rationale base that aliens are good. Aliens could be bad as well. And about "coexistence" with aliens, nobody asked aliens what they exactly understand by "coexistence", that was simple word without any explanation. I liked how aliens were depicted from very beginning: mysterious and dangerous. Now aliens of the show are "overhumanized" with families, and , oh yes, babies. Well, evil Toby killed all, but there will be survivors ;)
