I was getting some total deja vu watching the "hearing" for custody of Ethan.

Because literally even though 20 years have passed, Halle Berry looks the same, she was saying basically the same lines, and her acting has definitely not changed (LOL).

I don't recall anything about race being brought up at the "hearing" for custody of Ethan. Obviously race was a major factor in the film you're referring to.

LOL. Yes, race isn't a factor in Extant BUT both stories feature a white woman trying to take Halle Berry's child away! And in Losing Isaiiah that's literally what Halle Berry's character said. I guess it was funny when I was watching the scene and realized it but maybe not so funny if you weren't there. :-)

That's not what her character said in Losing Isaiah, you make her sound extremely ignorant and racist. She said "You are not going to take my baby like you'd take some puppy from a pound, look at my face! I'm his mother, God says so!"

LOL. I'm only joking BTW. The similarities were just funny to me. But, "Look at My Face" says it all BTW.
She was a crackhead who left her baby in the trash to go score, but look at her face!
When that movie came out, I was a teenager and didn't know much about movies but even then I couldn't take it seriously. Can't you tell?

I think Extant is a joke, so I'm resorting to making jokes. I'm in til the bitter end this season but I definitely won't watch more if it get renewed.
