That was quite good

Extant really surprised me this season. I thought it was just OK last season, and then the changed direction for this season threw me for a while. But once I allowed myself to go with the new flow, it carried me, and by the end I found it pretty exciting. They kept the right characters, and adding Jeffrey Dean Morgan turned out to be a winner. Tonight's final episode serves as a suitable series finale if Extant ends while offering a thread to keep the series going if CBS renews it.

Totally agree. It was a satisfying end, or lead in to a movie of the week. I even liked Lucy at the end.

How about the humanix walking around alive? I am pretty sure they left the door very wide open for next season. Or am I the only one who missed the guy in Starbucks was the humanix: not only was the name on his coffee the master mind machine's name, but when the virus took over, one of the humanix in the lab had an emergency reboot.

That's why I said that the finale had:

a thread to keep the series going if CBS renews it.

The Humanix at the end was Taalr, it had obviously set up some kind of backup and uploaded into a Humnaix body.

I suppose at least it didn't escape onto the internet which seems to be the usual ending for malicious A.I these days.

That was a quite satisfying finale season or series. CBS really built on something interesting last season and turned it into something compelling in the second season with the change in direction and revamp. They really kept is smart and found a balance between the intelligence some fans liked last season and the action others craved.

I hope there is a third season.

I liked it much more this season too.

While I think they rushed some of the scenes, and glossed over some of the major people and events (Lucy dying looked rushed..Fiona's death... and where was the lady executive who wanted to make Humanics military like and why was she not in the finale? )

but overall they have a great story line and some really good actors and character roles...just need to take more time to flush out key points of each show...don't make it seem rushed..

I absolutely loved the first season and this season was 10x better! The revamp was a good idea and Lucy was so deliciously evil.

Loved the season finale!! Thanks for giving us 2 hours also!

Loved this season. Hope there is a season 3

I agree it was better than expected and I do hope it'll get renewed.

I didn't like weak-writing moments -- like the choose the real Molly scene. Since the humanichs cannot read thoughts, all the real Molly had to do is tell JD something they shared during their romantic night together (or yeah, telepathy.) The way it was, that scene left me rolling my eyes. Still, overall, I want S 3 (and bring John back!)

I don't think there's any need for season 3.

Both seasons started pretty well but went all downhill when the season progressed... they simply just didn't have enough story to work with... or the story was silly.

Season 2 finale was really bad... humanics, hybrids - and a world ending supercomputer when they ran out of ideas.
...The decline in season 2 started a bit earlier when the series suddenly took a 180 turn from "bad hybrids" to "good human mind controlling hybrids who are just occasionally bad" and "bad robots".

The humanics were also too easy to kill, just shoot them. So there were all kinds of human existence threatening forces and the writers clearly didn't know what to do with them... with humans either... long introduction to "Toby" who was just killed suddenly.

This series had some promise but in the end it was all over the place.
