Exciting but deeply problematic finale

This finale had many good elements and was tense and gripping. But a lot of the plot details were sloppy and fall apart if you think about them at all. (I won't use the dreaded "plot hole" terminology, as I know it is highly controversial around here.) Some examples I jotted down while watching:

Why would the GSC not have that building guarded with Humanics? Later Lucy swapped in Humanics, but it's silly that it took their almost being breached to do so.

Charlie's apartment seems like a poor choice for the rebel HQ given that Lucy is totally onto Charlie. And this is proven by the fact that the fake Molly is able to find JD there. Why didn't they go back to JD's special hideout? And then why weren't any Humanics stationed at the apartment to wait for the real Molly to return?

As badass as Humanics are, they sure didn't get the programming instructions for finishing off the enemy. First at the hybrid hideout, and then now with JD, they sure give humans and hybrids lots of extra chances.

And indeed, they do come back but too late. Closing the barn door after the cow got out.

TAALR didn't station any Humanics to guard his server?

Here we go, the ol' "which one do I shoot?" dilemma. It's been done many times, but it's a good plot device so I don't blame them. I do have to question though why the real Molly didn't change her clothes before going in.

And what about Charlie, standing behind the glass panel in the Humanichs lab, evidently assuming Lucy wouldn't be able to see him talking on the phone. I mean, it's glass. It's transparent. She's right there. You were just speaking to her. Duh!

reply

Right, especially since they already knew they could trick Lucy by having her watch them "fight" and use her lip reading skills. Strangely contradictory.

Oh, and I almost forgot - what was with the 747? Was that the most modern plane they could possibly come up with??

Don't get me wrong though - I do love this show and have watched every ep in both seasons. I know the prospects for a 3rd season are practically zero, but I would definitely watch it if there were one!

reply

We are still using planes made decades ago. But yeah, they should have used a 777 or something.

OR Why didn't the real Molly just glow her eyes and had JD shoot the Humanich Molly????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why all the stupid drama "I-just-looked-into-your-eyes-and-saw-the-real-Molly" bit. Or it could be that JD saw those eyes glow a little bit! LOL.

That's not grammar, it's spelling of a made up word. I take it you saw it written on screen somewhere? I do not recall seeing it written out.

Aha! Thanks.

reply

Hey, *I* know it's not grammar, but on IMDb boards, that what people tend to yell when someone bothers to correct any grammar, usage, mechanics, punctuation, typos, etc. in a post.

Yes, I watch with [cc] so I've seen it written out since S1.

reply

I don't necessarily trust the captions. If it hasn't been shown on screen, I would say it is undetermined. I like your spelling though.

You're on the internet.. use it, dont be lazy and passive when making claims, back that shizz up.

From IMDb;
Extant: Season 2, Episode 8: Arms and the Humanich.

or, use Google/Wiki:
• Goran Visnjic as Dr. John Woods, Molly's husband, a robotics engineer heading the Humanichs Project. (Season 1–2)
• Pierce Gagnon as Ethan Woods, Molly and John's son, a humanoid robot and the prototype for the Humanichs Project.

From the CBS site:
Season 2: Episode 8 - Arms and the Humanich;

Zugzwang: Molly, JD and Ethan track down John’s mysterious former colleague who may hold the key to stopping the Humanich threat. Also, Julie enlists Charlie on a mission to find out where Lucy’s orders are coming from.

How about you be precise with your language! What "claim" did I "make", exactly?
