Season 1 and 2 look like totally different shows?

Season 1 was boring at times and the story seems a bit ridiculous but I liked the feel good vibe and the awesome futuristic aspects. I'm watching episode 3 in season 2 now and it's very gloomy and dark while being stupid, and all the cool futuristic stuff introduced in every episode are gone, it looks like a completely different show 😞
