What's Your Alternative Ending? ***** SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD *****

***** SPOILERS ENTIRE THREAD ***** ENTIRE THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS

A lot of people are complaining about the ending, where David goes Buddhist Monk and takes down the entire mind control operation by brain frying everyone in the building working on the project. While I very much enjoyed the nerdy style buildup throughout first half of the movie, I found the ending forced and out of character from the rest of the movie. It just doesn't seem these characters would take the actions they took in the end. All of them. Ryan going from stealing computers, being happy go lucky and inviting hot girls to see his nerdy experiment, to becoming the super militant watch everyone all the time type dude. Jordan going from savvy CIA field operative infiltrator, to a lab coat wearing no opinion having desk drone. Then David who even after all that time in the buddhist temple, can't think of any more creative solution than: kill all the people who know anything about the project?

Anyway, since I'm clearly not the only one who thought the ending was botched, What's Your Alternative Ending? that would have made the movie better?

One where the government was successful in what they were trying to do, with David dying in the end.

Its because of him the technology got as far as it did, hacking the C.I.A to steal their information, stealing university assets, allowing Jordan in.

They stole his progression research and began using it on their own agents! Reading, then givin the very file that details world mind control and you want to think of something OTHER than destroy the tech before it gets out or others get trained on how it works remotely? Yea lets have a sit down and explain to the men in suits why mind control is immoral and that the should not do that.

If you are seeing yourself standing in another room, you are definitely not fine

An alternative ending could be the entire movie was part of a feedback loop from the first time they tested it in the garage. From your own perspective you experience a near infinite amount of time in your own head or with whomever you're linked to, in the few seconds it takes for your brain to fry.

That's an interesting one. They project out what will happen, then wake up and kill themselves so it won't ever get created.

But..: the Commodore 64 computer they are using captures all those lines of code that transpired, and slowly but surely starts spitting out lines of code for the entire breakthrough

the potential negative impact of any technology is neutralized by everyone having access to it
