OMG this os baaaaaad

Wow.. this movie is painfull to watch.
And the lead 'actors' - supposed to be in their late teens?! *sigh*
I can't believe this rating. Must be tampered with.

reply

Late teens? Nope. They are in grad school.

reply

Whatever. They are still way too old for their roles. And you can only see the age of one; 32. And you CAN pull that off in some cases - just not in this!

reply

The actors are in their early 30's, but are supposed to be playing people in their mid-20's. That's hardly a stretch by Hollywood standards.

reply

Except that normally people who play 18-20 year olds, even though they are in their 30ies doesn't LOOK old!
Think of Ryan Philippe Vs the one who plays Andrea in 90210...
Or Leonardo Dicaprio.

reply

Again, as has already been explained, they are not playing 18-20 year olds. They are grad students. I'm sure for HS dropouts, this sounds like "students who graduated high school." In fact, grad students are students who have already graduated with a bachelors and are pursuing higher degrees. Many grad students don't go straight into masters programs. This means the characters are anywhere from 22 to 30.

I know you'll just read this, drool a little, bang your head on your screen, shake it off, and repeat "but they're too old to play 18-20 year olds!" At least I tried.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

reply

This is pretty terrible, but the ages aren't an issue. They're grad students, which means they're at least in their 20s. Theres even a lot of 30 Olds in grad school.

reply

there could be issues with this film, but age of the actors isn't one of them. first of all they all match each other agewise, secondly they're totally portrayed as late age graduate students. i mean the one guy's got a rented house and a kid, his wife isn't even in school. she's just working so it matches. i don't see the issue there.

reply

Lol...You think most grad students are in their late teens? You are "os" wrong.

reply

Obviously you never went to grad school

I'm from Denmark, so obv english isn't my first language - maybe you should try and think before you judge. And I still think they look way to old. IMO. Thx.

So is your spelling

reply

Ahhh Denmark. I've heard of Denmark. The place where the locals don't like the outsiders who don't speak their language...lol.

reply

And where are YOU from? Probably the friendliest place on earth, right?? LOL!

reply

That's what they call it up here in Canada!

reply

i'm guessing you are an ageist who wants to only watch movies with super young people in them anyway. just watch a different movie, like Mazerunner or something.

reply

or she's just correct and you refuse to accept it. The fact remains that some people feel these actors were not fit for the parts due to their age, and who are you to second guess their perception? Not everyone is going to agree with you.

reply

I'm not sure there's such a thing as "correct" or incorrect with perception, but healthy discussion allows us to point out details the original poster may have missed, for example that most graduate students range from 22 years old to 32 years old and the movie provided quite a bit of detail matching the chars to the higher end of that age spectrum, namely: child; house, wife working fulltime and honestly just the advanced stage of their research suggests older end of the grad student spectrum.

So if the movie is accurate to itself by casting the actors close to the age that matches their characters, it could be just personal preference that the original poster would rather watch a movie with younger people in it period. This tends to prove the point that Hollywood seems to have figured out anyway. People just like to watch younger looking people on screen.

This is a very bad movie, but no one in the movie is supposed to be a teen. If the only thing you find wrong with it is your misconception about grad students being teens, then move on.

The premise of the movie is decent, but the execution is terrible. The writing is horrendous and the thing that bothered me the most was the very bad acting of the wife and the blonde spy/scientist. I'm glad the wife was out of the picture 1/2 way through the movie.
