I thought this was very funny

This movie has gotten incredibly negative reviews and it really surprises me. I thought it was hilarious and very well done. Schumer and Hader were very good in their roles and had a lot of chemistry. There has been some gripes about too many SNL people being in this. So what? They were good in their cameos. I think SNL people are very funny and talented, or they wouldn't be on TV at all. They need to be in more movies! There are also complaints about it being too long. I felt that the relationship needed to be explored and the running time was just right. By the end of it, you really wanted these two to get together. Anyway, it's getting a lot of hate and I think it is undeserved.

Leave your snarky comments at the door. I'm just expressing my opinion.

I agree. It was well-paced and not too raunchy. Usually I dislike Apatow, but this, I liked a lot.

Film critics largely loved it. It's gotten "incredibly negative reviews" on IMDB from guys with metaphorical tiny penises. I think that's the simplest way of saying it.

The haters are men who can't deal with the idea of a woman having lots of sex (the way guys do), especially if she's just ordinarily attractive and the hookups are always fueled by a little bit of liquor consumed by both parties.

The thing is, I get the feeling that most of the haters aren't prudes. They're the guys who would be getting drunk and picking up a woman like Amy Schumer. The notion that these pickups are actual human beings, and who are both entirely unapologetic about being "sluts" but nevertheless find the bar hookup scene somewhat unsatisfying -- they can't deal with that at all.

As evidenced by the thread that claims that no man would see this unless they were forced to, these guys can't even deal with the thought that there might be other men who don't share their misogyny.

Personally, I thought it was one of the funniest movies of the last few years. I may buy the Blu-Ray to get the unrated version and bonus features.

And Netflix predicted I'd give it a 4.4 / 5,which is just about exactly right, so it's plain that there are plenty of guys who share this reaction.

Prepare your minds for a new scale of physical, scientific values, gentlemen.

You just hit the nail on the head! That is exactly what I think too. This movie held up a mirror to all the men who act this way and they didn't like it AT ALL. I personally would love to have Amy for a friend. Oh the stories she could tell. I would never be able to live life like she does, but I could appreciate it from afar! It's such a role reversal! It's fine for men to act this way, but not women. Humans have been on this earth for about 4,000 years and I don't expect it to change in my lifetime.

The movie isn't unique and all the hype poppycock. I don't care that her character had been around the block a few hundred times to many I love the movie Chasing Amy.

The op clearly only read reviews here because all I heard was how amazing and groundbreaking it is but if you've seen romantic comedies you've seen this movie, including the girl that likes sleeping around, done better many times.

If you love it awesome for you but it's factually, not subjectively, as average as it's rating is hovering.

Please tell me the funny parts. I'm a woman so NOT hating on her, just didn't think anything was funny.

I agree. I came here to comment on how funny Cena and Lebron were only to see the negative reviews. Maybe it was more enjoyable for sports fans? I think it's more of a thing where people don't like Amy Schumer. She was OK as the lead.

I'm not familiar with either of these guys as sports aren't a part of my world, but they were funny! And so was Amy - and I'm not too familiar with her, either.

So, from a random data point - I enjoyed this. I have no baggage about any of the individuals in the film.

I agree. I really liked the characters. The movie made me laugh a lot and I enjoyed that. I liked the way that Bill Hader made his character seem like a responsible person at his job but hopelessly romantic and loyal in love. This was a sweet dynamic.

I agree too. And emvan is right, it did get good reviews from critics. Also, if you look at the graph that shows you who voted, the imdb staff gave far higher ratings than general voters. I'd imagine they are people who know a lot more about cinema. I was surprised at how funny this was, but I can see how some people wouldn't get it. We're living in an age where people laugh at The Big Bang Theory. So I can understand how proper jokes would go over their head, especially as there's no laugh track to cue them in.
