Nero vs KITT

I'm not sure "intelligence" is the right word in the context of this movie. Ok a cheap shot but accurate. I was thinking myself that Nero reminded me of Kitt. The Mecha even had red glowing eyes. I missed why the mecha shark went rogue and grew tracks out of it's body. I suspect maybe the AI ran amuck or something. By that time I couldn't have cared less what happened, it was just a ridiculous film.
