There's lesbians in almost every movie and show now

The family being what they were was a nice subversion. But the lesbians? Nope. Not shocking anymore and very annoying to see in almost every movie / show. It makes my time watching movies, which is already a waste of time sometimes, waste even more time. This one was especially a useless relationship as there was no redemption arc for the cannibal lesbian and never confessed her dumb sapphic love towards the other lesbian, which was fine because I would've rolled my eyes if that happened. I think it was just to set up the "I'd rather eat pussy than people" quote.

I tried to fast forward during the lesbian scenes but was afraid of missing some context, but it went on so long and was dragged out. If I wanted to watch porn, then I would watch that, not hope for some of it in a movie.

the "lesbian scenes"... you kidding? your grandchildren see basically more than this on tiktok with a single misclick.

man if that was all that porn ever provided, it would be a sad state for public health across the planet thats for sure

oh and lesbians aren't in movies to "shock" the audience 🤣. by your own admission though lesbians are no longer shocking to you, so looks like normalization is indeed happening. if youre against lesbianism, you probably dont want to publicly admit to normalization though... never admit defeat

now if youre a straight woman, only then can i understand the lesbian hangup...because i remember i was having a great time watching Lovecraft Country when all of a sudden some almost hardcore gay men sex started happening and i was like what in actual fuck i dont want to see that. but then -i'm sure much like your sex life- it was over pretty quick. i took it like a man and didnt bitch about it. i also remember gay sex in They/Them (2022) too but it wasnt as unexpected, given the premise. it's not the end of the world

but first off if you want redemption arcs or any arcs why the fuck are you watching horror? you'll have an easier time finding that in other genres. you can find catch them sometimes yes, but bitching about them missing, here...thats a total eyeroller. sounds like you dont even know what you want

if there's too much of anything, it's arcs. everywhere. especially in horror. just have a cannibal family murdering another family horror thriller and be done with it. add some lesbian spice and i'm all in. i dont need or want all the other crap

this was actually quite a good movie particularly being a tubi original. great directing. also was some good edge-of-your-seat very necessary lesbianism that really added to the plot-essentially by definition. it's a must watch for horror enthusiasts.. engaging from start to finish.

and i dont think i saw a single ugly girl the entire movie. every new one kept getting hotter than the last, really adding to the plot. it brought us back to the 1980s error of horror but with less nudity and more hot lesbianism

i for one welcome our new hot lesbian overlords. but if you dont want to find lesbianism around every new corner.. go back and watch all the zillions of good older, lesbian-free movies. there's no issue here

Why would I be a straight woman and watch adult videos with only women in it? I'm a straight guy. I like sexy and cute women doing stuff together too, but I just don't want to watch that in regular movies.

It would indeed be eye-rolling if she had a redemption arc and confessed her love to her, redemptions happen in horror movies a lot, but it would be especially dumb for their type of relationship. And yes, I would skip scenes with the male equivalent too. All non-straight relationships I can't relate to and are a waste of my time to watch unfold and invest in for any character. Their relationships are like a friends-with-benefits relationship of straight couples, which is also a waste, but at least that one can turn into something more meaningful like having their own children if they ever take their relationship seriously.

Thanks for letting me know about Lovecraft Country. Guess I'll be skipping it completely or at least fast-forward during that part and save some time.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the movie. The subversion was great and acting was pretty good. I was rooting for the good family to win against the cannibalistic family.

Maybe that's why a lot of modern movies are doing so terribly box office wise. All of this stuff going into it people are just rejecting and are tired of and are doing what you recommend I do, watching old movies that have much better everything. Writing, character development, etc. Now new movies are just so superficial.

well it's interesting you put it that way. it must be a preference thing because i can easily watch movies with characters i guess i shouldnt be able to 'relate to', and i'm not even sure i know what that means but i have seen others say it. if characters and story are interesting, i'm game. no matter the particulars of the characters. and i also like bad guys winning as they sometimes do in horror... makes it unique

i dont know about box office but these movies and shows are not doing poorly on streaming though. could be people are just staying home more

i dont really get the complaints about this stuff though. i like the older movies, the newer movies. each has good and shit among it. we just have more variety now..more visible growth in movies being made for niche audiences. so not everything now is needing to be safe, tried and true formulaic things meant for 'general audiences'. general stuff is still there, you just have to wade around to find it. we also get more subtitled foreign stuff too. whereas stuff like wokesploitation is centered mainly in the US and trickling influence maybe on western europe... if you dont want that, you dont have to put up with it in latin american, eastern european, east asian, indian movies etc etc. i've also found lot of good new stuff from there too.. well except maybe bollywood... too many misses and not enough hits for me.. and i really have grown a hatred for all the stupid random dancing 😁.

reading subtitles can easily get to be a chore though....

but if people want to stay western/American and current day..theyre just gonna have to deal with the trends and take it as it is

Yeah, it's probably true about the streaming and the pandemic making it more popular. Could be nostalgia for me with the old movies and shows, but idk they just felt they had more character and better stories. I always root for the good guys though lol. You're right about foreign movies. I"ve been watching more of those in comparison, but the influence is getting there too as you've said for the Western European movies, especially Spanish movies. It might indeed stay with us forever as you said. Will just have to keep fast forwarding then. On the bright side, it'll shorten the runtime of the movie and I can do other things lol

it immediately turned me against this movie that i otherwise would have really enjoyed.

it's just a reflection of our culture. a man is the most vile, disgusting creature in the world. a lower form of life than any woman. unless they're black or gay, in which case they're noble and pure.

so the default for any smart female character now is to be a lesbian, or failing that then a brilliant single woman who recognizes that men are vermin to be hated & treated with disgust & contempt.
