I'm curious why this show is so badly rated, because normally I really understand why people would dislike a show (e.g. characters, bad storytelling, ...) But 12 Monkeys is one of the greatest shows nowadays and not a single (!) episode is rated less than 8.0 - so why would the overall rating be so bad?
shareI have no idea honestly. I usually look at the ratings and if they are low i don't even try to watch the trailer. I sidelined this show for a long time based on the rating probably, but when i watched almost everything with a better rating, i decided to give this a chance. BEST FACKING DECISION EVER!
This easily gets 8.5 in my books and should have more views and way better ratings!!
I don't think 7, 6 is really that bad of a rating. I mean I have rated a number of TV shows and movies I like 6 and 7 and I rate movies and TV shows I don't like under 4.

I just watched the movie and i loved it but i got serious doubts if i should watch this show.
If you loved the film then don't go near this! They SyFy Channelled the charm out of it.

The show has it's complexity, well developed character with so much chemistry between them. Story that makes you wonder all the time. I think you should definitely give it a go, Aaaron is such a great actor, and Amanda will surprise you too. This was my first time i have ever seen them act, but i instantly fell in love with both of them.
And don't make the rating fool you, this easily gets 8.5 in my books. Shows like Arrow and Flash, and Legends can do it.... this is a masterpiece compared to those shows.

If I would consider my opinions as facts, well.. I guess I wouldn't ask people to give me some reasons why the rating isn't as high as I would expect it to be. I was simply wondering and clearly not instructing people to like the show (or playing God).
shareThe fact that it's not as highly rated as the top 250 tv shows in the history of tv is not enough for me to consider it to have a low rating. We're not even talking about just the highest-rated US shows--there are even some foreign shows in the top 250.
I am sure that a rating of 7.6 puts it above the vast majority of shows in tv's history.

Fairly simply. If the list you linked to goes down to 8.3 or whatever, then I'm quite sure that 7.6--which is not that far below 8.3--is still higher than most of the many thousands and thousands and thousands of shows in the history of tv.

I hope you're pretty certain that your wife doesn't cheat on you, but I don't imagine you have scientific proof for that, do you? I am quite certain that Donald Trump will be a horrible president. I have no scientific proof for that, but I'm still certain.
However, since you need a security blanket, I did a search for tv shows with ratings of 7.6 or lower. Here are a few:
Gomer Pyle [1968] 7.1
Police Story [1973] 7.5
Vegas [1978] 6.8
Police Woman [1974] 6.6
Green Acres [1965] 7.4
Max Headroom [1985] 7.3
Dancing with the Stars 4.7
Survivor [2000] 7.0
These were/are all solid shows, with good viewer numbers [except for Max Headroom, which is actually my favorite on this list]. Some are even "beloved" by many. But their ratings are below 7.6. Personally, I wouldn't watch most of them, but that's not the point.
Incidentally, when I did the search, it came up with nearly 32,000 results. So, 12 Monkeys is rated higher than 32,000 shows. I would not call that low. And the list simply confirms what I was already certain of.

Again, I must disagree. Experience doesn't always need to be broken down into discrete facts in order to be a valid guide. My experience indicates that people tend to give the average show a "5." This tells me that a rating of "7.6" cannot legitimately be called "low," as it is well above average. More may be required to convince others, but that has no impact on my certainty, which is what you challenged in the first place.
Also, I never claimed that the show was "hall of fame" material. Apparently you needed to introduce that in order to bolster your argument. All I said was that I was sure that 7.6 wasn't low. The fact that nearly 32,000 shows have lower ratings seems to indicate that I was correct.
While I agree with your general position you then went and threw in that comment about Trump. Coming off of 8 years of the most vile, incompetent, US hating POS to ever soil the office of President there's no real way Trump can be "horrible". He has to be an improvement over that thing that just slithered away. Thus I am now forced to consider your overall analytical abilities and thus reconsider my own, which leads to all sorts of other issues.

I think 7.6 is a very good rating for a TV show. While I give the show a 9 at least, there are always going to be haters here that don't like the show for whatever reason.
Let's just be glad we have a Season 3 and hopefully more...
