At sixes and sevens

First they opened a pawn shop for a couple of months so they could get a TV show about owning a pawn shop.

Then they sold said pawn shop but ran the shop so they could still have a show about operating a pawn shop.

Then the new pawn shop owners “ran it into the ground” and now the pawn shop is closed.

We sold it to some people in October last year. Sadly they weren’t as they seemed and ran it into the ground. We’re having a fab time though x

Little Mark has left

ANNOUNCEMENT – It is with regret that due to personal reasons with the new owners of Regal Pawn I feel that I can no longer work there, I wish the business every success and I would like to thank all the fans of the show and customers for all there [sic] support.

I will continue with new TV and movie opportunities but in the mean time I still have bills to pay so I had better go and find myself a job! Thanks Little Mark April 23 ~ Little Mark Holland via Facebook

and Pawn Stars UK is now down to Big Mark, Vicki, Simon, and Liam but they don’t have a brick and mortar pawn shop but some website called Pawn Stars UK Network which has the absolutely best URL ever:

How does a TV show about a pawn shop work when there is no pawn shop?

If you deflect the topic of the thread from the show to me, our discussion is over

But this show ends...

The counter is down to zeros. It doesn’t look like there is going to be any fruit from the Tree of Life to revive the Spawn... er... the Pawn Stars UK reality TV show.

Mark Holland explains what happened to Pawn Stars UK and Regal Pawn:

.... But at the end of the day, it was a reality show, if you like, and it was part of the business. I’m not quite privy to everything that was happening upstairs with senior management and everything like that but at the end of the day businesses succeed and businesses fail and I think it was a case that it wasn’t sustainable and it wasn’t doing as well as it could. So at the end of the day, the business had to close and we’ve gone on to do other things. .... ~ “Little” Mark Holland, June 23, 2015, Facebook

Was it unsustainable because the “pawn shop” was supported by a local population of 50K people in nearby Deeside or was it purely a TV studio which was located on an access road to an industrial park? All things considered, it was hardly a prime location for a TV studio let alone a pawn shop.

Little Mark is unemployed and looking for work as an actor even though he once said the cast of PS UK were not actors.

Big Mark Manning is begging via Twitter for people to sell their coins to him. For a pawn shop owner with such a self-proclaimed long history of owning and operating “pawn shops” his pawn shop business empire is literally dissolving:

According to the Check Company website which lists the status of UK businesses:

Regal Auctions Limited – Active – Proposal to Strike off *****
Hardcore Pawn Limited – Dissolved
Regal Coins Limited – Active but is listed as having Dormant Company Accounts; last report March 31, 2014
UK Pawn Stars Limited – Active: Proposal to Strike off
Pawn Stars UK Limited – Active; Proposal to Strike off
M A Manning & Son Limited - Active
Colin’s Entertainment Company – Active; Proposal to Strike off
Regal Pawn Limited – Active; Proposal to Strike off
Regal Pawnbroker Limited - Active
Colin’s Merchandising Company Limited - Dissolved
Regal Pawnbroking Limited - Active
Regal Coins Limited – Active
Cash4assets Ltd – Active; Proposal to Strike off

***** Striking off - Process of removing an incorporated or registered firm from the register or roll kept by the governing statutory agency such as registrar of companies. Striking off may be (1) on the request of the firm itself after cessation of business activities, (2) on non-filing of accounts and other statutory requirements, or (3) on non-response to the statutory agency's mail sent to the firm's official (registered) address.

Manning has this rather odd website claiming to be the “official fan network of Pawn Stars UK Limited” wherein he says he will offer networking, among other things, putting his “fans and trade” in touch with businesses throughout Europe but that service comes at a price as it is behind a pay wall. Great URL though:

http://www.pawnstarsuk.co.uk/

The web site seems more like a grift to me. The web site masthead features Manning, his daughter Vicki, Liam, and Simon and trumpets the title Pawn Stars UK Network.

So these guys went looking for a TV show and had to “create” a pawn shop to get the gig. They had a pawn shop license less than five months before the show aired. During production of the TV show, they sell the pawn shop to a chain outfit. Even a chain pawn shop can’t keep this place afloat and it closes.

So much for utilizing the 2000 years of British history available to these posers.

Cajun Pawn Stars – gone. Pawn Stars UK – gone. Let’s see how Pawn Stars SA fairs. Dick #2 says Pawn Stars is expected to end by the end of 2016.

Mystery surrounds the sudden closure of a Flintshire business that featured in its own television show.

Regal Pawn, which features on the History Channel’s Pawn Stars UK programme, has shut its doors leaving fans and customers confused.

Several people have taken to the Regal Pawn Facebook page to ask about the store’s future, with many stating that the shop has been closed for weeks.

Some customers have also posted on the page, claiming that the firm is still in possession of their items that they consigned including a dagger and two pieces of art.
